Health & Safety Lead – Logistics
Location: Regional role- Berkshire, Surrey, Midlands
Salary: £45k + bonus
Job responsibilities
In partnership with the Head of Safety, you will drive the safety strategy, promoting a culture of continuous improvement. Working closely with the Logistics team, you will ensure that our Health & Safety procedures are effectively implemented, upheld, and enhanced, making a real difference in the day-to-day safety of our operations.
Shape Our Safety Standards: Lead the development, review, and update of policies, procedures, and documentation, ensuring consistent implementation across the logistics operations.
Proactively Manage Risk: Ensure compliance with Health & Safety protocols, conduct thorough investigations, and update risk assessments as needed.
Be a Safety Champion: Lead by example and advocate for a positive safety culture, supporting local managers in building the right safety behaviors.
Collaborate on Key Projects: Partner with Planning Managers to assess and manage Health & Safety requirements for new projects, ensuring every initiative meets safety standards.
Provide Expert Guidance: Serve as a key advisor at Health & Safety meetings, provide legislative updates, and support senior management in resolving safety concerns.
Support Incident Reporting and Training: Encourage a proactive approach to reporting incidents, conduct internal audits, and deliver engaging safety training to ensure staff competency.
Lead in the Head of Safety’s Absence: Be a confident point of contact, guiding the team and managing safety interactions with third parties.
What You’ll Need: Qualifications and Skills
– NEBOSH Certificate or higher (or equivalent) and Graduate Membership of IOSH (or above). – – Additional safety training within logistics environments is highly desirable.
– Proven Leadership: Experience in leading Health & Safety management within logistics
operations.
– Analytical & Strategic Mindset: Strong commercial acumen, planning skills, and the ability
to create effective business solutions.
– Interpersonal Excellence: A collaborative team player with influential communication
skills and the confidence to drive change.
– Tech Savvy: Excellent PC skills, with the ability to analyze numerical data to inform
decisions.
– Clean, current drivers license
